How to use Wollmeise Rolls - and why you should give them a try!

You may have seen Wollmeise Rolls in our shop and wondered what you would do with them?

Wollmeise Rolls look like something that is already knitted, In fact, they are  rolled-up "sock blanks" in 100% Merino which were dyed after being knitted up.  This unusual process allowed them to be dyed in a very long color gradient.

How to use them:

Option 1 is to unravel your Wollmeise Roll at one end and start knitting with the loosened thread. The sock blank will slowly unravel as you knit your project. The benefit of this method is that you are very unlikely to experience tangled yarn!

Another option is to completely 'frog' the sock blank and wind up the yarn, then knit as with any other yarn. You choose whichever method works best for you and enjoy how one color gradually flows into the other!

Perfect for shawls, scarves, sweaters and jackets where you need gradient yarn. Wollmeise Rolls have the same length and are made from the same fibre (100% Merino) as Wollmeise Pure skeins.

Wollmeise Rolls are a one-off production in a very limited edition. We were extremely lucky to get some in and only have very few left. None are currently available from Wollmeise in Germany, so if you are keen to try this one out, you better get in quick.
