Knit your own dog!
A few weeks ago we got a new puppy. She is a very cute little girl and does all the adorable things puppies do - as well as the less adorable ones!
Our puppy is house-trained now, but in the first couple of weeks there was many a moment when I wondered whether I would have been better off simply knitting myself a dog rather than getting a real one.
I figured that there would be certain benefits to the knitted version - a knitted pooch would not need feeding, it would let me sleep at night, I would not have to worry about house-training, and it also would not constantly bite me, my shoes and everything else in sight!
So I went looking for patterns to knit my own dog.
As it turns out, there are some beautiful books with dog patterns available: "Best in Show : Knit Your Own Dog" (2010) by Sally Muir and Joanna Osborne was the first book in the series, followed by "Knit Your Own Dog : Easy-To-Follow Patterns for 25 Pedigree Pooches" (2011) and finally "Knit Your Own Dog: The Second Litter." : 25 More Pedigree Pooches" (2013).
You can choose the breed you would like, from Afghan Hound and Basset Hound to Border Collie and Cocker Spaniel, German Shepherd and Jack Russell to Labrador and Miniature Schnauzer and much more.
Personally, I probably like the Portuguese Water Dog and the Pointer best. What about you?
